Andy Timmons
The spoken and the unspoken
Andy Timmons has long been recognized as a guitar virtuoso among his peers throughout the world music community. His ability to play with conviction almost any and every musical style brings this guitarist to the forefront of todays marveled players.
Andys success, popularity, and critical acclaim are a result of dedication, talent, education, and extensive experience in both live and studio session venues. Andy studied classical guitar at the University of Evansville, Indiana (his hometown), and jazz guitar at the University of Miami. Later on, as a resident of the Texas music scene, Andy honed his skills as a respected blues man. A veteran of the international rock band circuit, Andy was recruited by the EPIC recording group, Danger Danger in 1989. Danger Danger embarked on numerous world tours and enjoyed the accolades of two Top 10 videos on MTV. Soon, Andys impassioned style was being praised by international industry personnel and fans alike.
Andy returned to Dallas, Texas in late 1993 to restart his solo career. The recording and release of the CD "ear X-tacy" soon followed. Guitar World Magazine called the release an instrumental guitar masterpiece featuring
"13 tracks of good ol fashioned lead guitar that will have GIT fiddlers raving and drooling with delight
it is a fine showcase of chops and musical intelligence". This powerful and stylistically rich compilation was critically acclaimed in both the U.S. and abroad and Andy was soon signed to a record and publishing deal with Sony Records Japan and EMI/Virgin.
Andy returned to the studio in '96 with his Trio and released "ear X-tacy 2" both domestically and on Oo/Sony Records Japan. This release showcases Andys vocal debut on a portion of the album and includes a guest appearance and guitar wizardry dialogue with friend Reb Beach on the song "Down To The Wire".
Andy can also be heard extensively on the Simon Phillips album "Another Lifetime" on Lipstick Records. Andy toured extensively throughout Europe and Japan with Simon.
Not many people had realized Andy's large Beatles fanatasism until the release of "Orange Swirl". The CD features Andy and the trio at their Beatley Best.
In late 1999, Andy released his third Trio CD called "The Spoken & the Unspoken" which was released worldwide on the Ulftone (Europe) and JVC (Japan) labels. The album garnered praise from critics and was touted as some of Andy's best work to date. Andy toured with his Trio over in Europe for the first time to a resounding success.
Most recently, Andy has put together a 2 CD collection of rare and unreleased tracks for release called "And-thology 1&2". The collection features recordings from the very early days of the Trio up to the release of "Orange Swirl". The CD is a must for any serious Andy Fan.
Andy is presently an endorsee and revered clinician for several monumental companies within the music industry, including Ibanez and D'Addario.
