"David Poe's third album claims to " capture the arc of typical live set". It mixes songs from his first two albums with new material, much as you would expect in a live show, but it was made in a Berlin studio. A strange idea, perhaps motivated as much by the desire to create a "best of" to hook many listeners who haven't discovered him yet as it is to show off the live dynamic of Poe and his rhytm section. The result is an inimate small-hours vive that perfectly suits Poe's tales of relationships going wonky, relationships beyond repair and families that have put all that nonsense behind them and just soldier on.
